Privacy policy
Last updated 18 October 2026. This policy covers the Binoch app for macOS and this website. Binoch is made by Bilel Sabkhi, an individual developer.
The short version
Binoch does not collect, sell or share personal data. It has no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising and no accounts.
The app
Binoch runs on your Mac. Its settings are stored on your Mac in an encrypted form. The encryption key is kept in your macOS Keychain. None of this is sent to me or to anyone else.
The app asks for some system permissions. Each one is optional except the first, and Settings explains them before you turn them on:
- Accessibility, to detect the volume, brightness and Do Not Disturb keys.
- Calendar, to show your next event and alert you before it starts. Events are read on your Mac and are not stored or sent anywhere.
- Automation for Music and Spotify, to read the current track and send play, pause and skip.
- Full Disk Access, only if you choose to show other apps' notifications in the island.
The only network request the app can make is downloading album artwork from the address that Spotify supplies for the track that is playing. That request is made by your Mac to the server that hosts the image, and it carries the same information any image download carries, such as your IP address.
This website
The website is a set of static pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics, no tracking scripts and no third-party embeds. The fonts are served from the same address as the pages. The hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and requested pages, for security and to run the service. I do not have access to a profile of you built from them.
If you write to me, I receive your email address and the message you send. I use them only to reply, and I do not add you to any list.
Children
Binoch does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because I hold no personal data about app users, there is usually nothing to access or delete. If you wrote to me and want the email removed, ask and I will delete it. You can remove all data Binoch stores on your Mac by quitting the app and deleting its preferences and its Keychain entry.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
